The daily discussion and thousands of reports, articles and studies have become indispensable: terms such as Industry 4.0, digitization, Internet of Things, Smart Home. Especially in Germany, the government and business associations managed to shape them and place them in every area of ​​their lives. The glossy brochures of many companies now promise us the digital revolution, with which our lives are fundamentally improved: Everything is networked and any individual customer wish can allegedly be met with automated production. Alexandra Arnsburg is a member of the state district board of ver.di Berlin-Brandenburg and the board member of department 9 (IT and Telecommunications) and experiences the digital change of the working world as a long-time employee of the Telekom from own experience. She contributed her point of view in a detailed preface to the book.
