Özet:
Today's Turkish-Syrian-Iraqi border area goes in the 16th century. The nine provinces of the Ottoman Empire between the Tigris at Hasankeyf and the Euphrates were at Hit. Their economic structure and their ownership are examined by the village, quantified by the Turkish tax registers and presented in large overview maps. Numerous other aspects of the settlement of that time, the place names, the tax system, the population figures and the urban economic structure are discussed. A gorsser part of the present description applies to the documentation of the economic structure of each individual settlement. There were about three thousand villages and mezra'a in this area. Their economic power is quantified and presented in a detailed part of the book village. Sultan Süleyman's reign 1. was the only period before the present for which we have such information, even for this remote region, the "land on the border"
