Incentives are frequently used for the purposes such as increasing the production, employment and export, ensuring regional and sectoral development in both developed and developing countries. Investment incentives which are among the most important application tools of economic policy have been widely used for long time.
In the context of regional development, besides taking enough shares from investment subsidies, taking the subsidies in the powerful sectors is also important. The changes in the sectoral distribution of investment subsidies given to regions can also show important differences in the course of time. Therefore in this study, shift share analysis is used in order to determine the effects of investment incentives that are arranged within the scope of applied incentive system on development process of regions even countries.
The main purpose of study is to determine how to increase regionally the efficiency of the applied investment incentive system in Turkey and define the variables which affect investment incentives. For this reason, within the context of study, various statistical analyses are conducted and as a result of these analyses, various proposals for increasing the efficiency of the applied investment incentive system in Turkey were developed.
